New meeting- Swiss Cottage Community Centre Sunday mornings 10-11am from the 5th July

Hi This is a new meeting starting in London. I need advice on format etc , this will be a regular meeting not HOW. Is there a system in place to help new meetings financially to help them get started. How else can i promote a new meeting to ensure successSee you there

I have another addiction and

I have another addiction and attend another 12 step meeting programme, I heard about SLA a little while back but was very scared to go to a meeting. I find my other addiction as painful but not as shameful if that makes sense so would find it harder to go to one of these meetings. The Swiss cottage meeting takes place directly before my other meeting in the same building so would be easy for me to go to, I was wondering if working on two addictions at the same time would hinder my recovery in either as I would not want to jeopardise anything and I wondered if anyone could give me any advice on this. Thank you in advance. Oh and I am feeling worried people from the other meeting will see me in this meeting or am I just being silly with regards to that?Angela-London.

You might want to try out

You might want to try out the meeting in Kings Rd chelsea on a wednesday evening at 7.30pm just to see how it works. It is a non-how mixed meeting with a topic/chair/step andthen a portion at the end of the meeting called "getting current". I think youcan get a meeting starter pack when you register but all meetings are supposedto be fully self supporting. I will try to get up to your meeting after 5th July. Have you been going to other meetings telling them about this meeting. I will mention it at any meetings I attend.  Good luck.

LITERATURE Every new

LITERATURE Every new meeting is entitled to 2 free Basic Texts - the Big Book for SLAA. This is the only concession available to new meetings, as Fergus correctly states, each new meeting must remain autonomous in its funding & operations. You have to email or phone the people who organize this, or attend the meetings where they are & then arrange to pick them up. They are based at the SLAA/HOW meetings at Waterloo and Hinde Street. New meetings outside of London can have their books posted to them, I think, but best check first.
Also you can download and print out a format of your choice from the Meetings section to the left of this page - under "Starter Kit". I think there are even more formats available in the F.W.S. (American) website. Whatever you choose, make sure it is by committee (or group conscience) - not just of one person - you just need one more person to help you decide what & how to operate.
Best Wishes for your new meeting - let us know how it goes.
